Flexible height systems

One of the most important factors to working without strain is to work at the right height for you.

Everyone is different and needs a working height that’s customised to suit them or the majority of kitchen users in the household. This isn’t as difficult as it sounds because it’s the placement of the elbow rather than the physical height of the person that decides the correct working height for individual kitchen activities.

The active height for cooking is the top edge of the average size cooking pot on the hotplate. Optimally, the carcase lies approximately 25cms below elbow height. When the shoulder and arm are relieved, cooking is more comfortable.

Built-in electric appliances raised to a user-friendly height make loading and unloading more comfortable. Fridges, steam cookers, ovens, microwaves, dishwashers, and automatic coffee machines can all be integrated to ergonomically correct heights. As a result, kitchen tasks put less strain on your back.

This means installing all your household appliances at accessible heights. Nobilia uses modern measuring devices such as AMK ergonometers to precisely determine the correct working height.

The Nobilia height system

The Nobilia height system allows you to customise your working height from between 66.2 cm and 110.2 cm.

You can choose from four carcase heights. And for added convenience, the combination of base units and plinth heights means that even storage space can be maximised while keeping almost the same working height.

For various activities such as preparation, cooking, and washing up, you can opt for the unit height most suitable and relaxing for your height. This can be fine-tuned by choosing from four different plinth heights and three worktop heights.

Enjoy sufficient headroom

Other kitchen features that will help you to work comfortably are head height cabinets and cooker hoods. Head height wall units with flaps or folding/lifting doors give you a greater overview of the contents of your cupboards, as there are no doors to get in your way.

And when you’re cooking, the new generation of cooker hoods offers optimum headroom – due to the slanted extraction surface of the hood.

Make kitchen tasks easier

Nobilia kitchens have a range of thoughtful units that will ensure your daily kitchen activities are more relaxed and less physical.

For example, their specially designed larder unit has easy-to-open front pull-outs for intelligent storage. Everything is clearly arranged and can be accessed from both sides, while the position of baskets can be adjusted.

Another handy feature is the sensor-operated opening support mechanism for Nobilia’s waste separation system. The front pull-out can be opened with the touch of a foot via a sensor in the plinth.
