The advantages of upstands

While it only goes a short way up the wall, an upstand will protect your kitchen wall from general spitting and splashing. It will also prevent any seepage at the back of the worktop.

Upstands usually coordinate with worktops and are made of the same material. However, the upstand will be thinner than the worksurface.
