Staying productive and finding things to do is so important for our mental health. Many people are getting creative with online media to entertain themselves, others are taking a more practical approach and choosing to tackle those ‘need-to-do’ jobs that we are all guilty of putting-off, for one reason or another.

If you are one of those practical souls, and you have had a kitchen makeover on your radar for some time, then now will be a great opportunity to start planning your dream kitchen.

It takes time to consider all the options and plan a kitchen that will give you everything you need, so now you have the time, let’s get started!

Considerations when planning your perfect kitchen

Even though our Leighton Buzzard Kitchen Showroom isn’t currently open, we are still offering online kitchen design consultations, so we can help you through the process of deciding on your kitchen layout, taking measurements and choosing the style and finish that will create the look you want to achieve.

To get atarted, ask yourself these questions:

1. Do you want to create more space? You may be able to create more space by opening up under-used space, knocking down a wall or replacing standard doors with sliding or bifold.
2. Do you need more storage? There may be wall space available to add more units, particularly if you are replacing free-standing appliances with built-in appliances or pushing the wall cabinets to the ceiling may give you the extra space you need.
3. Do you want to extend your work surfaces? You could consider moving the sink or appliances to create more countertop space, but changes to pipework, plumbing and wiring may be required to achieve this.
4. Is your new plan going to create a kitchen that is efficient for the person who will use it the most? Think about the ‘Kitchen Work Triangle’ – the distance between your sink, fridge and oven.
5. What is your budget? Set your budget before you start choosing your kitchen and appliances!

Once you have considered all your needs and requirements for your dream kitchen, and have a plan in mind, it’s time to put the plan on paper. Draw a sketch plan with some accurate measurements. Here is an example of a kitchen sketch plan.

Before lockdown was put in place, we would have invited you to our showroom in Leighton Buzzard for a free Kitchen Design Consultation and which would have given you the opportunity to view the ranges we offer, but sadly, due to the restrictions we can’t meet with you at this time.

We can, however, offer you a free Online Kitchen Design Consultation via Skype or Facetime, so once you have worked through the initial considerations and have a plan in place, give us a call and we can talk through your ideas and provide advice and guidance on choosing the units and appliances that will create your vision.

Ordering your new kitchen

As of 1st April 2020, we are able to resume our delivery service as long as you can sign a Personal Declaration to state that your order is ‘essential’ and that you have are not suffering with Covid-19, and have not been in contact with anyone known to have Covid-19 in the last 14 days.

Our standard delivery times are 3-7 weeks. We will be able to give you a more accurate timescale once the order is placed.
